$3 Gel Liner SMACKDOWN!

Contestants:

Essence Gel Liner in 01 Midnight in Paris
Wet N Wild Gel Liner in 886
E.L.F Cream Liner in Black

SWATCH
Essence          Wet N Wild            E.L.F
All three are very intense black. However Essence is the most creamy while Wet N' Wild has a drier formula.

WATER SMUDGE TEST
Took some water, rubbed it across all three, and excuse my horrible swatching skills but no one  budged.

MAKEUP REMOVER TEST
Took a contain swab dipped in makeup remover, ran it once over all three. Essence faded, Wet N wild barely moved and  with one more swipe E.L.F  would have disappeared.

CONCLUSIONS:
If you are looking for an awesome liner all around, then get the Essence Liner. It is creamy so it goes on SOOOO smooth. It doesn't smudge and lasts all day. Plus they have a very nice color selection for those divas wanting to experiment with colored gel liners :)

If you are looking for a liner that won't move for days, go ahead get the Wet N Wild Liner.  That little sucker stays on even after you remove it. Although a little drier in texture, it is very easy to apply.
Side Note: Thank u all for the congratulation's, it really meant a lot, and as far as putting up pictures, im so sorry but I can't. Mi familia decided that they needed to be in every picture so when I asked if I could share them online, they all shied away :) But no worries, someday I will put up pics:)

MY FIRST GLAM BAG!!! with mini review

So I am sure if you are a beauty fanatic then you have scoured the beauty videos on YouTube and probably have watched the videos called "YouTube Made Me Do It."  Well this is my "Blogging Made Me Do IT." :)

Before blogging I had no interest in the monthly beauty box thingys. Although I like reading about them, I had no  interest in purchasing them. But then I thought, you know what, why the heck not. :)

So I chose to purchase  from myglam.com, because I found them to be the cheapest. I mean $10 thats it!

So here's what I got!

All the stuff came in this shiny bubble envelope

When I open it, out came a postcard with all the YouTube gals who are the face of the company

All the products came in a cute little metalic pink makeup bag

Here's the 5 (technically 4 since the brushes are a set) that were in the bag

DermStore Lip Quench-Moisture Infused Lip Treatment: claims to be a treatment to help nourish, soften and smooth lips.

My initial reaction: LOVE! I put it on my lips already feel awesome! Although the tube is a b**** to squeeze and get the product out, it works wonders (so far). It's the consistency of Vaseline, but it stays on a lot better and to me it smells like strawberries with a hint of mint.

All-Belle Lashes- claim to accentuate you eyes.

My initial reaction: I'm not really a lash kinda gal since thankfully my natural ones are just fine for me and VERY RARELY do I wear fake lashes, but these will be fun to play around with.

All over eyeshadow brush and angled brush: claim to be "hand picked by Michelle."

My initial reaction: I tried these out and they are duds. Nothing special. I tried the angled brush to apply gel  liner but because it was so flimsy it kept folding, so I'm gonna have to find another use for it, maybe for my eyebrows.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Junkie: Creamy Green/Teal (depending on the lighting) eyeliner with gold specks.

My initial reaction: For me this pencil alone was worth the $10. These liners normally sell for double the price where I live and this travel size one is perfect for me. Of course I tried it on when I opened the package and so far...I love! The liner is so creamy, the color is so fun and gorgeous and I actually like the gold specks :) But the downside, I need a really good primer because unfortunatley for me, my oily lids will not allow this product to stay put, it actually smudged onto my upper lids:(

OVERALL: It was okay. I don't know why, but I was expecting so much more. Not  necessarily more products but....I don't know. I think I had built up my purchase so much in my head that I really set myself up for disappointment. So will I be re-purchasing from MyGlam.....maybe. I think I will give it one more month and if I don't like that package, I will sadly have to switch.

BeneFit "Hello Flawless" Cover up Powder

If I was a face powder kind of girl, then this would be the one. Oh the simplicity, the coverage, the SPF....yes, we could've been a great match :)

Now before I start sounding anymore like a perv, on with my review :)

Packaging: The powder comes in a cute little box within in a box. Although BeneFit products as a whole aren't necessarily on the top of my favorites list, I must say, their packaging is always cute.

Included with the powder are a typical brush and sponge applicator. While the brush is okay  if you have absolutely nothing else, most definitely throw out the sponge. Don't want all your face oils getting caught in it when you use is.

Product: The face powder itself is a  soft consistency. Where I have found other powders to be very chalky and streaky, this powder is soft and blends in very well. As written on the box, with a brush the powder gives a very sheer coverage and with a sponge its a great spot cover-up. Plus the SPF 15 doesn't hurt either :)

Pricing: Here's where I hesitate. If it was twenty dollars cheaper, I would be all over it, but at $34 USD, it's definitely a could've, would've should've  kind of product.

Overall: I have never been a powder kind of girl. I have always found them to make my face look chalky and overly done.  Honestly can't even think of the last time that I used a powder, other than a translucent one to set my foundation once in a while.

However, after experimenting with this powder, I think maybe I should change my mind. Although I wasn't a huge fan of the effect it gave over my foundation, on its own, over some primer and tinted moisturizer I found this powder to be great. We all have those days, when we just don't want anything heavy on our face and I think for those days, this powder is great. It helped cover my small imperfections, without going overboard and let my skin breathe.

I would recommend this powder cover up  for girls looking for a major setting powder that just won't let your foundation budge, as well as girls looking for a light airy look.  Remember the secret is in the application :)

Review: L'Oreal Lip Balm

Sigh...they got me again you guys. Those evil genius' at Walgreen's knew I was coming so they put this pretty pink product right on checkout counter because they knew I wouldn't be able to resist it. But isn't it so pretty! See so you can't really blame me for buying something I didn't need :)
Product: What this essentially is, is an overpriced tinted lip balm. it goes on smooth and is  VERY moisturizing and the slight hint of color  and baby shimmer make the lips look refreshed and pouty. Although the color pay off is very minimal, it can be built up depending  on what shade you purchase.
I purchased Mauve, and this is after a few swipes of color.

Container: It comes in a basic lipstick form. There is nothing special with the packaging but the soft color caps make the product not look cute but very sleek as well. It almost looks like the Dior Lip Balm.

Pricing: Ughhh.....Alright I paid $7.99!! I know, I know, but I told you it was an impulse purchase.

Overall: I really like this product! Besides the sleek, high-end look of the packaging, the lip balm is very mositurizing, long-lasting and the color pay off is  soft and natural. So my dear readers, if you have the money or if you can find this product on sale, go ahead give it a try

Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder

Alright my fellow grease monkeys, here is a product you are sure to love! I discovered this product a few years back, but kinda forgot about when it got lost among the hoards of other matifying products  I had. Well, thanks to a sudden warming of weather and the oil glands on my face going into overtime while trying to make me look extra shiny, I have rediscovered Rimmel London's Stay Matte Pressed Powder :)

Product: The product comes in multiple shades, but I would recommend the "translucent" powder so you can use it year  round without worrying if it matches your skin color. When applying I usually use a Kabuki or large powder brush and evenly distribute it over my problem areas (MY WHOLE FACE :) ) and retouch throughout the day as seen needed.  My one warning however, is that the product can appear to be very chalky if not blended in well, so BLEND BLEND BLEND

Coverage: This product gives no coverage since it is a translucent finishing powder, however it wears very well. This means that depending on how much you apply the product blots the oil without giving your face a flat look. Over foundation, I am still able to maintain a nice "natural" glowy look without looking flat and washed out

Packaging: I think the one downfall of this product is that it has very flimsy packaging. Designed like a large disc, the lid is very loose and if you are not careful you  can easily break it, or loose it in your purse if you choose to carry it in your makeup bag.

Pricing: Between $4~$7 USD depending on size, location, and availability

Overall: I think this is a great oil control product. Even if you choose not to wear any foundation, on bare skin this product works just as well. My only warning is not to overload on the powder because it will leave a white caste if you put on too much.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Pressed Powder

Image
Okie Dokie so here's another product where I fell for the hype. A few years back when everyone jumped on the healthy skin bandwagon and used au naturale products that were good for the skin, I was still using pore clogging, carcinigen full, awesome foundations. But after multiple breakouts and a nasty allergic reaction that no one it allowed to talk about, I bowed my head and finally said "Okay okay lets see what this is all about."
I bought my Neutrogena Healthy Skin Pressed Powder from my local CVS for about $7, normally the price is alot higher but I bought mine during a BOGO 50% off sale.

Coverage: This product is light to medium buildable coverage. However, for my oily skin, this product did NOTHING! After applying I looked like a ashy ghost even though the powder was my color. After 30 minutes the product was non-existent. If I tried to reapply, it just stuck to my pores and magnified them.

Packaging: This comes in a typical compact form with a bottom section to keep the powder puff. The overall compact however is very bulky and after being tossed in and out of my makeup bag for a while, the plastic snap keeping the lid closed, snapped off.

Pricing: Neutrogena as a brand is one of the more expensive ones in the drugstore. Therefore it is no surprise that this product can run you anywhere from $9-$14 USD, depending on location and availability.
Overall: I did not like this product. My oily skin did nothing but look ghostly after application and then sucked on the product within 30 minutes. However, i tried this product on my sister who has noraml to dry skin and the finished still looked chalky on her, but lasted a little longer
